This plant has been in our family for three generations, can anyone identify it? It's flat and on the outer edges it has niches where new growth sprouts out.

I would not know the species, but it is an Orchid Cactus (Epiphyllum).
For a long time I wondered what these things were and several years ago at a family reunion my Mom, her sisters and some cousins were talking plants and these came up. I thought I had finally found out what I had at the house as I asked what in the world it was. The consensus was that it was a “frog plant” or a “zaba”.
Upon further research found out that “žába” was the Czech word for frog and I was right back where I started.

Where's the rest of the plant. After all those years it should huge. Mine are trying to break out of the GH. Read up on the proper care for epiphyllums. Sue
