Pilosocereus pachycladus?

Post by PixMe »

Hello,

I'm new, so please excuse that I ask for an ID of one of the top ten.

I have two specimen I think might be pilosocereus pachycladus, but I am unsure. Could you help me, please?

Here is the data:

1st one:
Height: 8 cm
Diameter: 3 cm
Ribs: 6
Areoles: ocher, about 1 cm evenly apart
Spikes: gold, about 0.5 to 1.5 cm
Branches: 7

2nd one:
Height: 42 cm
Diameter: 2-5 cm
Ribs: 8
Areoles: ocher, 0.6 cm evenly apart
Spikes: gold, about 0.5 to 1.5 cm
Branches: 1

I think the two might be the same species, but I am confused by the differences concerning the ribs which are thinner for the 1st one.
I don't know if this is important, but I know that the 2nd one survived at least 4 years without any watering on a window pointing to the north.

Thanks in advance

Very confusing... It seems that younger examples of this species tend to have longer spines and less wool, but as they age they turn blue.
