Was out shopping and stopped in the garden department and found a few gems, I'm hoping. Even not, still will be welcomed in the garden. These were in 6 inch pots within another plastic plot without holes and wrapped in plastic wrap. About 2 inches of water they were floating in. They yelled out "Help me Obi-wan kenobi, help me." I think they will survive their Walmart experience.
I'm hoping this one is an A. ornatum. It is 7 inches tall and about 5-6 inches in dia.
I'm thinking F. cylindraceus Red Fire Barrel. About 5 inches in dia. including the spines about 7-8 inches in dia.
Maybe Mammillaria, not Hahniana, and yes straw flowers on the top. This plant is 6 inches in dia. and the straw flowers will be more of a challenge to remove.
This one is double headed and 8 inches plus tall.
No idea

Re: Walmart surprise
Astro is ornatum all right.
Not sure about Fero. There are options. Cylindraceus is actually unlikely, as it is kinda slow.
First mamm is probly chinocephala.
Second - karwinskiana or smth close to it

Yes, very surprised. Surprised so much I bought seven plants. 4 were Astro's and the rest posted. The red spine Fero was the best.tumamoc wrote:I have never seen anything nice as those at Walmart. Way to go!
