1.30euros well spent?

Post by BRC »

So I went out today, and I bought two little guys that I think might be nice catches!!

The thing is I'm not really sure what they are...

Image

Not sure what this is...at one point I thought it was some sort of Sulcorebutia, because of that purple-ish colouration around the spine area. but after a closer look...I'm not sure what it is...Any ideas?

I got this guy because the pattern is different from what I'm used to see on astros... could it be some sort of cultivar or variation?

Any ideas?

Thank you

We sailed through endless skies
Stars shine like eyes
The black night sighs
The moon in silver trees
Falls down in tears

Light of the night
The earth, a purple blaze
Of sapphire haze in orbital ways...

#1 is a Mammillaria (I think)
#2 is an Astrophytum.

First one looks like a Sulcorebutia.
Second seems to be one of those fancy Astrophytum myriostigma cultivars from Japan. cv. Onzuka, maybe? :P

The little spines on that Astrophytum make me think it has some A. ornatum in it. Wouldn't surprise me if it was A. myriostigma x A. ornatum.

I believe that the 2nd and 3rd photos show an Astrophytum myriostigma cv, Onzuka V type. It's also a very nice plant and you did very well to find it.

The first one looks like a sun-starved Rebutia Fulviseta.
Buying a cactus a day will keep the madness away.
