I picked up this cactus recently, but can't seem to identify it, I find similarities with Parodia or Uebelmannia family, or maybe a type of Mammilaria? I thought: Mammillaria hahniana, Mammillaria karwinskiana, Parodia chrysacanthion, Parodia comarapana, Uebelmannia gummifera? But they seem to not have everything in common...any help? Thanks

Parodia leninghausii or schumanniana maybe?
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind

I would agree with Parodia schumanniana.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

Re: Parodia? Uebelmannia?
Ok thanks everyone! I read that it is a 'quite rare species' - but how rare? or what does that mean in the cacti world?
Re: Parodia? Uebelmannia?
Not rare at all. Anything you can buy in the box store cannot be rare.

Ha ok that would make sense!vlani wrote:Not rare at all. Anything you can buy in the box store cannot be rare.
Re: Parodia? Uebelmannia?
What is rare in one country is often not as rare in another. P. schumanniana is not that commonly grown in the UK these days compared to more showy species like P. magnifica or P. warasii, but does that make it rare or simply nurserymen responding to lack of demand in the market? Certainly it is available if you want it if only from seed. The form known as P. schumanniana ssp nigrispina or P. nigrispina, if you consider it a separate species, is far less common in cultivation.
