2015 - Free Seed Offer

Post by Minime8484 »

***NOTE - This offer is no longer available - all extra seeds are currently gone! Should have some more available in late 2015. Thanks to all!***

As I did last year, I have accumulated a lot of extra seed over the past 12 months or so that I could never hope to sow myself - or for which I was successful, so don't really need as many seedlings as I've already got so far!

So they don't go to waste, I am once again offering a bunch of my extra seeds to anyone that would like some! NOTHING is required in return at all - not even postage! This is just a Thank You to all of my fellow cactophiles out there that have been so free with their seeds, plants, and/or advice over the years.

Last year, I specified domestic USA only, but had some interest from non-USA folks, and that actually worked out really well, and I think all - domestic and overseas - received the seed I sent. So, this year, this offer is open to *anyone*!

Of course, I cannot guarantee that the species you want will be available by the time you request them, nor can I guarantee they arrive (especially overseas), nor germination rates (though for *most* of these, I got germination myself). Seeds are usually less than 2 years old, so hopefully are still viable.

If you are interested in any on this list, please send me a PM with a list of the species you would like IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE (to be fair to all that ask, if you could keep your requests to a max of 5-6 species or so, that would be great). I will try to send some seed to all that request them - I think I was fairly successful at that last year. I try to send at least 10 seeds per species to each that requests them; when the seeds have locality/source info associated with them, I will include that as well.

Here is the list I currently have available (I will update this post as they run out):

About six weeks ago I planted the seeds I received from Tristan and they are showing good germination and are doing great.

Here are a few photos of your gift to me Tristan. These little guys are about 3 months old and they are an assortment of Cleistocactus and Astrophytum.

I didn't tell them yet they they were born in Alaska but maybe someday I'll tell them their parents live in Arizona.

Thanks again Tristan for your generosity.

Im new to the Cacti world, but I'd love any seeds that you'd be willing to share! I do not have too much space so preferably something on the smaller side. I live in Texas around zone 9 so I can handle tropical ones too :-D

I sowed 12 seeds of cleistocactus flavispinus from Tristan a month ago, germination rate is 100%. Half of them have spines now, and one has distinguishable areoles. I will sow some of the others every month
