FREE Melocactus seeds

Post by Snowcat »

I have some seeds from my m. matanzanus and LOTS of seeds from m. curvispinus. I can send it to any point of the world for free for anyone who wants them.

Parent plants in their early days in my collection (Curvispinus is the big one, with white ceph) -

Drop me a letter if you want some!

linkan, RSCHOLTZ, please send me your postal addresses via a PM.

I will send all the letters next week. Right now I am trying to figure our how to pack them to avoid crushing by postal robots...

My experience: use small card board match boxes to put seeds in. They are quite firm and will probably take any normal abuse by postal machines and postal men throwing stuff around. I use matches regularly, so I have an empty box about once a month.

Ok, I've got 4 addresses. I think that's enough to distribute sedds I have. I'll write a note when I'll send the letters :)

Sorry for the delay, guys... Winter returned to us and I was afraid to send seeds while it was -10 Celsius... Tomorrow the weather should warm and I already have the letters so I'll send them.

No rush :) still very cold over in Russia then! We've finally been getting a bit of warmer weather for a week or so (up until the last couple of days) but I still haven't watered any of my plants yet just in case the temperature drops again. Understandable if you didn't want to send the seeds in that temperature, I know the seed bank at Kew Gardens stores seeds at -20 Celsius but I'm not sure if it applies to all seeds including cacti, so better to be safe than sorry :D

Ok, all 4 letters are sent. I have no idea when they will arrive. I hope current conflict with Russia will not stop these letters. :)

SnoCat - Being a "hippie"-child of the 70's, if I'm not on FBI, CIA, HSA, NSA, Facebook or any other known or unknown agency of the U.S. -- not to mention having mailed O. humifusa pads to a Flickr friend employed in a Mexican Federal penitentiary (which got thru!), I might as well get signed up now!

There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!

Mine have started to germinate after I planted them last week so I'll see what kind of germination rate they get :D
