Opuntia diploursina sp. nov.

Post by A. Dean Stock »

A new species of Opuntia is described in Cactus and Succuent Journal (U.S.) Vol 86 (March-April 2014) No. 3. This new species is mainly found in Mojave Co., Arizona near Meadview. The new species in a diploid and is likely an ancestor of Opuntia erinacea. It forms diploid hybrids with Opuntia basilaris. Photos of the new species are available on Cactiguide under Opuntia polyacantha var. erinacea from the Meadview area.
