A new species of Peniocereus from Honduras

Post by tumamoc »

An article from Revista Mexicana de Biodiversidad, Volume 84(4), December 2013, describes a new species of Peniocereus, P. canoensis.

The journal article (pdf) also includes photographs of the new species. Great flower!

Very cool! Really does seem convergent with P. viperinus with regards to flowers and pollination syndromes; the rest of the characters are quite different.
Thanks for posting this!
I certainly hope it can be saved in the wild.
