This week, after finding an informative (older) thread about melocactus in the forum, I've gone ahead and joined it in hopes of picking up a few more tips and insights. My interest in cactus started in the 60's with a Johnson's Cactus Gardens catalog. I retired a couple of years ago and I've rekindled my interest with a small collection (~40 plants) - main interests = echinopsis hybrids, opuntias, and I've dabbled with hardy succulents. Recently, I've taken interest in the melocactus.
Look forward to checking in on the forum,
Jim

Welcome!
A cactus and succulent collector who especially likes Ariocarpus. …Though I have a bit of everything! Want some pictures? See my flickr! I also do art and such.

Welcome! It would be great if you shared your collection with us. If you have time take some pictures and start your own thread of your collection.
Re: New to list; from North Carolina
In the next week I'll go through my pics and post some of my collection - maybe one for my echinopsis hybrids and one for my hardy cactus bed. Stay tuned.

Hi Jim!
I am also a cactus enthusiast in NC and new to the forum. I live in Chapel Hill and am in grad school at NCSU. My partner collects agave and some cacti and echeveria, and I am more into cacti with some echeveria. We just started working on berms and crevice gardens with hardy xeric plants (mostly agave), but I'd love to add some more cacti. I'd love to see pics of your hardy cactus bed!
Cheers,
Madalyn
