Hi all, I am wondering what to do about a couple of specimens i was gifted in the last week. It is October in NYC and I gave the last watering to all my potted cacti about 2 weeks ago and now I am not sure how to proceed with the little guys I got.
The question is can i pot them up and leave them be for their winters rest or should i leave them root bare until the spring comes?
Another question is, some of the little guys (pictured) are offsets from a Ferocactus Glaucescens v desnuda and also an opuntia who i dont know the name of and also a small little guy the spiky one who's name i also dont know and that one has been in soil for about 2 months and hasnt rooted at all.
For the offsets am I supposed to make a cut and let it callous before i set it down on soil?
Please help me on how to proceed, i dont want to pot any of these and then lose them over the winter. Thank you!

You can go ahead and pot them up if you'd like. Just don't water them until spring arrives.
You shouldn't need to cut the offsets. It may take some time but they'll eventually grow roots (hopefully). One of my ferocactus cuttings took 6 months to do so.

You can even repot in winter as Toadstar indicates, provided you use dry soil and do not water until the growing season.
