easy caudiciforms

What I am referring to is nursery-grown plants not shipped in pots and that simply have their roots exposed. I'm not talking about wild-collected material. I'm thinking of getting my plants from Arid Lands Greenhouses.

I did that with a couple plants, a Tephrocactus and a Gymnocalycium, both did well. Ordered them from a California grower in October, figuring that way the weather wouldn't be too hot or cold while they were in transit. Potted them up around Nov. 1 and didn't water them (though the mix was damp) until Spring. The Gymno arrived with flower buds on it, didn't even lose those - they bloomed when the weather warmed.
