Leaning cactus, what should i do?

Post by Anders »

Hello,
As you can hopefully see from the picture, my cactus is leaning to one side.
I have tried to help it stay upright with some strings pulling at each side, but to no success.
The cactus is about 7 years old.

Should i take a cutting (Cutting it in half) to reduce the height?

Maybe the cactus is ill? Needs more light? Less light? More water? Less water?

It also seems to be slightly softer and pale in the middle section.

I am unsure what to do with it :/

I am an amateur so any advice is appreciated :) Thanks for your time :)

I don't know why it would grow slightly curved like that but I wouldn't worry if I were you.
You're plant looks a bit dehydrated and that could be why it feels soft and lose some color.
The soil it's planted in looks like it could use more drainage.

The only reason my cacti kept getting soft on me but not thr point of leaning was underwatering. Cacti really appreciate water. If it's planted in peat moss you should move it to a better mix. The best way to water cacti in peat moss is to soak them in the sink and let all the air bubble out of the soil. When peat koss get dry water will run off the sides and only wet the exterior layer of soil so you'd think it's all wet but on the inside it's pretty dry.
