Buying pre-mixed minerals got too expensive. Today, I purchased a large bag of NAPA product (Diatomaceous Earth) and Manna Poultry Grit (crushed granite), hoping it's ok to pot my new cacti in this mixture moving forward.
I live in a humid climate and feed my plants regularly in growing season. Will all of the following species be happy in the NAPA/Poultry Grit mix alone?
New Plants:
1. Mammillaria Guelzowiana
2. Mammillaria Hernandezii
3. Mammillaria Plumosa
4. Thelocactus (bicolor)
5. Espostoa Nana
6. Astrophytum Myriostigma
7. Echinopsis
8. Discocactus Araneispinus
9. Echinocereus Pulchellus--Weinbergii
My guess is that mammillarias should have no problem growing in this mix...unsure about the others. I am still new to growing cactus, and have learned so much from all of you more experienced growers. Any advice you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Is my mineral mix appropriate for some/all of these plants?

They should all do fine. Echinopsis like more moisture than the others, but you could just water them more often.

Excellent! Thank you so much, Spence! I am a bit of a worry wart. haha. I will pot these cacti with confidence. I've learned a lot from your responses to my posts and others throughout the site.

Use a complete fertilizer including trace minerals, they should do great in that - and, you're welcome.

I'm relieved that even the discocactus roots have anchored themselves after repotting. I read that discos need frequent waterings to keep their roots, but they're also sensitive to overwatering. This is my first disco and I hope to find the right moisture balance.
