For my cacti and succulents (I have two bowls of seed I hope will come up too) I want to get a couple plant light bulbs that run on a timer based on the length of the day currently in the Southwestern US and slowly increase it to summer maximum and hold it there until I start to see some seed sprouts. Once I see it I will decrease the length of day for my cacti.
Does this idea sounds sound or should I maintain the length of day as they are currently used to in Wisconsin?
Lighting Set-up questions
Re: Lighting Set-up questions
There's no need to manipulate day length in order for your seeds to sprout. If you use a 12/12 light cycle it will be plenty for your seedlings to grow and you will have two very easy to remember windows of opportunity to put your plants out in the open (both equinoxes). Plus, it will be cheaper to run.
