Re-potting cacti and succulents

Post by 2fussie »

I am new to growing cactus and succulents and have been all over the web researching how to care for these wonderful plants.

Somewhere I read that some cacti/succulents like to be planted in shallow pots and others in deep pots, but I have been unable to verify this.

Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

Pot to the roots. If a big plant or clump has a tiny tuft of roots then plant it in a shallow bowl. If a little blob has a four inch taproot then stick it in a deep pot.

Eek! Is that normal for that particular sub-species, Iann? I have a number of seedlings growing in a tray and now I'm concerned as to what's happening below ground level...
