Is it safe?

Post by conaire »

Is it safe to repot my Haworthia collection now?I'm based in Dublin and I keep them over winter in a barely heated glasshouse .Max temp 14 Celsius. Some of them are starting to flower so I should probably leave them alone for now. What I mean is when is the best time to repot them? They are all growing right now.A few are starting to mound up and grow over the sides of the pot.It looks attractive. But will the plants I separate grow again if I happen to break the roots off completely during the process?

On the whole I'd say yes, but Haworthias vary a great deal. Some are very much summer growers, some very much winter growers. It also depends just how close to the edge of oblivion you're keeping them in the greenhouse. If it is entirely frost free then I'd say no problem. It will be peak growing season in a few weeks, I already feel the warmth in my greenhouse :)
