About a year to a year and a half ago I grafted an oreocereus pseudofossulatus seedling to an echinopsis. It has grown to a decent size now, maybe around six inches or so, and I would like to degraft it. But before I do I would like to know how easy or difficult it is to root an oreocereus. I will be leaving some scion on the stock to grow some pups from but I would hate to loose the degrafted section. I've managedto keep it unblemished and its starting to growout its hair so it will be pretty nice looking potted up on its own, if I do say so myself haha.
I've also heard that you can bury an echinopsis stock without any risk of rot. Is there any truth to that claim?
As always thanks in advance.

Re: rooting oreocereus
Not a problem, but likely to be slow. Make sure it is big enough to live for a year without roots and everything should be fine.

Re: rooting oreocereus
I suppose I should let it grow larger then before degrafting to ensure it survives long enough to root.
