Great job. :) Personally I'd try to pick more off, but you've managed to remove enough for the plant to grow healthily.

Should I try to use a spray bottle and "blast" more peat out or just let it dry for a few days? I will be more aggressive with the next one.

Probably better to leave that one to dry than get it wet again.

Oops, I got impatient and went outside after my last post, sorry Dan. It was in the twenties yesterday. It is in the sixties now. I went out and used a spray bottle to get more peat. I then soaked the roots in a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution for 15 minutes. It is sitting on packing paper drying.

Excellent job! Once it establishes and starts growing, I think you'll have a happy cactus there.
