Reminds me of L. Williamsii how the pup bursts out of the plant. Anyway, the growth tip looks dead so maybe that's what triggered this behavior.

The growth tip is desad....but I never seen something like this. I mean I met cacti bursting from the side, or growing another head near the top. But never seen head exploding into 2 parts and grow another plant from the inside. Image

P.S. And thank you for the wellcome.

Its something like that, only less subtle. Sometimes cacti when branching do this when the tissue is too rigid

As I said...I did see pop-ups on the side. I have several in my GH.

But this one:

It doesnt seem it poped. It seems of "multiheading". That would be a different thing, wouldn't it? Image

Ms/mrs maya- you can clearly see that in the left- to center-most one that the growth center has a new "head" coming out of it. As for multi heading -this is a mutant( weve discussed it at http://cactiguide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=39839 . And sure that has something to do with grafting- though if youll allow me to speculate- yours seems to be grafted .

Can it be the laminated picture of Dave you have hanging in your greenhouse? Just speculating on the odd thing you have in your greenhouse no one else (probably) has...
