Chop this off?
Chop this off?
Left my cactus out too long in the cold and now the top part has turned white and soft. Do I simply cut it off down to the healthy part??
Re: Chop this off?
Post photo. Maybe. Well see.
Re: Chop this off?
Thats frostbite alright. Chop off until you see a healthy stem ring(inside), usually would be few cm/inch and a half below the soft line. Use sterilezed equipment, and its suggested to use cinnamon powder to help callous faster(or sulphur,if you have that). Also, keep out of cold and dont water. Its only hardy to -15 C.(Im guessing zone 8?)
And dont feel bad, it would make a branch in top most areoles of the plant.

Thanks! I was thinking I could just cut it back, but this is my first experience with a cactus...newbie. So I wanted to be sure. I'm in Eastern PA, not sure what zone that is.. but thanks again for the help
