Collapsing Austrocylinoptunia sublata

Post by cactimother »

Hi everyone

Hope you guys can help I bought an Austrocylinoptunia sublata a few months ago but as time went on it started to collapse and I am not sure why.
I feel it gets adequate sunlight and I water it only when its soil has dried out. There are no pests and rot from what I can see. I am not sure what I can do to fix the problem, any suggestions? I am stumped. Or is it normal for this cactus to collapse ?

Thanks in advance for your help

Some plants can shrink to quite an extent when dormant. I don't know if yours is dormant (seems too early, but I don't know where you live).

A picture would surely help here...

We need a picture.

Letting us know where you live would also help. It could be too little water, or the roots have died (sometimes due to too much water), but this is guesswork.

I live in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
I will check the roots thanks.

Please can you guys follow the link below to see pics of the cacti I am talking about. In this post I have shown pictures of the cacti when I bought it (approx 6 months ago) and now. Sorry for the link, I am struggling to attach a picture to this post so a URL was the next best bet.
