Mamm. rhodantha ssp. pringlei self-fruitful?
My Mammillaria rhodantha ssp. pringlei has produced a fruit for only the 2nd time (the first, last year, was eaten by a slug). I have just one of this species, and have no other Mamms that bloomed. Is this species self-pollinating, or is this random pollination from some neighbor's cactus? The fact it so rarely fruits, though it blooms constantly, makes me suspect the latter.

That fruit shriveled up already, and there were no seeds in it. I guess that answers the question; it doesn't self-pollinate.
