ariocarpus fissuratus

Post by adetheproducer »

Does anyone know if it will be self-fertile or self-sterile?
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
I dont mind.

dust the stigma of the ario, wait half an hour, then dust some of the ario's own pollen onto its sigma. The cement tricks the plant into accepting its own pollen,
trust me it works!

Crazy. Thanks for the tip. Just need to be patient now and wait for it to flower. Its only 10 years old so that will be a while away.

actually most arios flower at ten years from seed. You might be getting flowers soon!

I'm no expert on arios sorry, so I cant be certain if it's achieved flowering size or not. Hopefully someone with a bit more Experience growing Ariocarpus can tell you that. Nice looking cactus by the way!

I would say that it is not flowering size. While I have not yet raised one from seed to flower, I have not seen Ario fissuratus flower at that size. Mine seem to have grown some wool on the top for a little while before flowering. I'm not saying you should take what I said as a guarantee, but it is what I have noticed in my fairly limited experience.
