H.setispinus x Echinopsis
Is the hybrid possible ?
When thousands of foes unite, for my ruins plot–
If only You remain by my side, I then fear not!
I live for a hoped union with thee, it is my desired prize–
Or all my moments are spent- in the fright of demise!

well maybe, I have heard if you dust the stigma of a cactus (in this case echinopsis) with fine cement and wait say 30 minutes then dust the stigma again but this time with the H. setispinus pollen there is a chance that it may produce seeds. I have never tried Intergenus pollination before I have been able to fruit an E davsii with its own pollen. here's a link to the page http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/i ... opic=30961" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I pollinated the setispinus with itself and with the echinopsis,it has a fruit now.Then I pollinated the echinopsis with the setispinus's pollen,it also has a fruit now.

No,I simply used a paint brush .The echinopsis seed pod was attacked by ants and they made a hole in the seed pod,it dried up after a couple of days.I opened it up and saw a couple of underdeveloped seeds in itRobb wrote:nice, did you use the cement method?

That is another side of that medal. If you get 100% germination rate, you still have 4 plants to care about. Or keep one to yourself and 3 to trade.

Re: H.setispinus x Echinopsis
I have a question......Can we cross an offspring with its mommy?
If they all grow up and survive,I will probably keep 2 and give 2 away.

I think you can do that if you have raised it from seed.Alber khan wrote:I have a question......Can we cross an offspring with its mommy?

Re: H.setispinus x Echinopsis
By the way, offspring can reffer to either a bud or a seedling, right?

Sorry, I don't know. Some native English speaker should answer to that.Brunãozinho wrote:By the way, offspring can reffer to either a bud or a seedling, right?
