Hi Maja it seems that you have Harry Potter fingers :salute: , my wife just texted me that this morning she harvested my cross(Male Onzuka and female astro Miryo) with 22 seeds in total \:D/

keep in mind that for many flowers (of many different plants) they have chemical barriers that the pollen need to go through to keep pollen from the same plant (if they aren't self fertile) or from plants other species from reproducing with them. It's possible you got a hybrid between the two, or it might have gotten pollinated from a different plant, who knows.
:) you will find out when those seedlings get bigger :)

I hope so Maja :D , Maja

For Peter,
Thanks I will.
As I dont have many cacti, I still could remember some cacti which bloomed at the time, they were: Rebutia Marsonerii yellow and orange, thelocactus setispinus, lopho diffusa, turbi. klinkerianus, gymno schatzlianum(not fully opened), gymno anasitsii and of course those 2(onzuka and astro miryo), I will be very pleased if natural pollinator did it with one of them....will be more interesting =P~
Just worried if it had an affair with my adeniums
But most of all, I could have seeds from my own plants :-"

Cheers

yes it is really neat to get seed from your own plants. I sowed a bunch of 2 year old saguaro seeds this winter and many of them germinated. While it is next to impossible to pollinate a saguaro by hand, it is neat that my plants that flowered for me (and themselves of course!) made seeds that I was able to grow. I also grew some Fero seeds I collected, some Mamms and some Echinocereus. All of them had some germination, so .. yeah. Pretty neat feeling! :)
BTW I would like to mention that pollen is created by the male parts of flowers. It then interacts with a part made by the female part of the flower.

yup no problem Hendry. I thought it was very interesting and it's useful information. I am not a botanist but I have an interest in plants, so It's nice to know how they reproduce, at least on a simplistic explanation anyways. :)
