Best chance for success rooting this degrafted Astrophytum?

Post by zagoric »

The Pereskiopsis stock dried out in transit, so I'm going to try rooting. I tried to save some of the vascular column of the Pereskiopsis like I saw in an article on forums, but it looks like that dried out overnight. Does this have a better chance of rooting with the stub of the Pereskiopsis on there or if I cut it all the way back to the Astrophytum?

Thanks.

When you keep a short Pereskiopsis stock, you have to insert it immediately into wet soil.
I think you have to remove the stock completely in this situation.

The joint between scion and stock is embedded deeply into the scion.
The joint of Pereskiopsis is "T" shape.
You have to remove any element of the stock.

It is mid of February.
Is it warm enough for rooting in your place?

I'm in Los Angeles, so it is warm (up to 80 this week), but that won't sustain. Although I could keep it inside where it will be warmer though the night and not get down to the low 50s. Still, not as warm as I'd prefer for rooting.
