Not sure how to propagate these guys

Home Depot had some damaged plants and I picked these pieces up off the shelf in hopes of getting them to root. I read that Jade does better from stem cuttings than leaf cuttings but the specimen is shorter than ideal. The other one, not sure what it is, I think I may be able to just set and let it root. Or would I have better luck with plucking some leaves? Both plants are calloused where they broke off. What's the best way to do this?

Just stick'em into sand or other substrate. Keep in warm place and spray or water from time to time. It's better to root the stem, not countless number of leaves. At least I would do so. The spring is coming, in a month or so you could see a new growth that will say everything is OK.

So no need to make any more cuts? I use a mix of cactus soil and perlite. Should I use a different medium for rooting?

Also, would it help to pull the bottom leaves off the purple one and let them callous first to give me more or a stem to plant or does it not matter?

They're fine like this. Lower leaves are fuel for roots
