Pereskiopsis Bonsai?

Post by Driller64 »

Could it be done? Since I'm starting to get into bonsais I was thinking I maybe could wire up a rooted cutting after severing its main growth point and its sprouted sideshoots :)

They are said to have a strong apical dominance(that it won't make a lot of side shoots) so, i wish you luck, but it may be that they are unwilling to grow multiple side shoots

I don't think pereskiopsis is suitable for bonsai.
Crasula ovata (jade tree) or adenium are better choices.

Or you must infect a pereskiopsis with MLO, then it will branch freely ;)

Lucky I have both large leaved and small leaved Jade then. I'm also trying to propagate some crawling junipers from my yard, also a normal juniper that I took care of for two years before transplanting it out into the yard.
