Making new plants

Post by GreenMan »

Hi,

My cactus Echinopsis oxygona (or Echinopsis eyriesii) has some new parts attached to the main body. I've read that I can separate them from the plant and make new cacti. What time of the year is best for that? Currently, the cactus is in bloom. Here's the picture of it.

How about now? Those Echinopsis pups are very easy to root. Warm/Hot weather is ideal.

I thought maybe it would hurt the plant, since it's in bloom now?

Won't hurt it a bit. The offsets detach very easily, doing no damage to the plant.
