Hi there! 15 years ago I bought one of those red Gymnocalycium monsters grafted to a Hylocereus - assuming it's H. undatus. I always let it propagate itself, but in the last couple of years I started really cultivating some vigorous clones.
My question is: will it eventually flower and fruit? The rest of the horticultural world loves creating sterile hybrids that may flower but not fruit, or never do either - is this a possibility with my Hylocereus? Or do I just need to wait until the plants mature another year or so?
Thanks!
P.S. They're growing from a hanging basket with 50:50 mineral to organic soil. In northern Indiana in a southern-facing glass conservatory protected from extremely low temperatures, but it gets hotter than Africa in the summer.

Re: Will my Hylocereus flower and fruit?
I have grown some of these over the years. They have to grow to be very large. I thing that I read somewhere that they have to grow to be like 10 pounds in weight, and require lots of sunlight to Bloom. In order for some of them to bear fruit the have to be pollinated with the pollen of a totally different plant. Not to steal your thread, but here are a few pictures of a few of mine.

Ok, that's similar to what I've read. I'm trying to find more quantitative information regarding light requirements, e.g. photoperiod. Thanks for the info, your plants make me wish I lived in Florida!
