Rebutia canigueralii pups

Post by adetheproducer »

I recent got this Rebutia canigueralii but its grafted on hylocereus and I would like to have one on its own roots. I want to root one of its many pups but not sure the best wayvto remove a pup. Should I just pull it of gently, twist it or cut? What is the best way to go about it?

Cheers in advance CF people.

I would pull with a bit of a levering and finally a twist. :D Just do what feels right but it should come away fairly easily. You could cut it but you're likely to create a larger wound.

I agree with phil that the smaller the wound, the better the chances
however, you could cut it, just make sure it forms callus
cutting has the benefit of a more even rooting surface and no remaining vascular bundles from the motherplant
to do that leave it to dry for at least a week
you will probably have no problems rooting these

Great cheers guys. I thought pulling it off would be better than cutting will try it soon.
