Leuchtenbergia tubercle cutting?

Post by BarryRice »

Hey Folks,

Any comment on whether tubercles of this plant will root and grow?

I'm getting about a 30% success rate on Ariocarpus using this technique.

I'll grow it as long as it doesn't have glochids. Gaudy flowers a plus.

I've heard about this as well, it seems like it's possible but it's advised to graft the tubercle instead of directly rooting it.
A cactus and succulent collector who especially likes Ariocarpus. …Though I have a bit of everything! Want some pictures? See my flickr! I also do art and such.

Apparently they will grow roots and take up water, but they never really do anything else. Might be worth a try, though. :)

Happy growing!

There is always one more glochid. Somewhere.
