Some of rooted offsets have been in flower.
The times of set up for rooting to flower are varied.
1. Turbinicarpus valdezianus
I set up on 25th last month. I could see some flowering buds during drying process.

2. Pelecyphora aseliformis
Set up to flower was around 2 years.

3. Pelecyphora strobiliformis
Set up to flower was 4 years. I waited the flowering long time. This is the 1st flower for the plant.

Good to lnow. Thx. Next question is regarding your hylocereus stock. All my hylocereus stock is so thin, I could never fit a scion larger than a few mm across unless it was an older stem. Then it's too woody. Do you grow yours in the ground?

Hylocereus stocks are in pots.
Hylocereus offsets are rooted in 50 mm tubes and used as grafting stocks.
I graft young seedling only, 40 days old and so scions are very small, 2~3 mm.
Once the grafting is completed, the stock becomes thicker because its head is cut off.
If the scion became too large, more than 10 cm, the stock is hard to support by itself and I use bamboo stick for the supporting.

If you want to graft a large scion, Echinopsis species will be a good selection, I think.

It had completed the drying process of Ariocarpus offsets cut on 17th September.
I set them up for rooting 3 days ago.
The rooting medium is 2 mm scoria.
They are covered by a 50% shade-cloth.

How long do the Arios take to root? Also, is it less prone to rot without the taproot?
A cactus and succulent collector who especially likes Ariocarpus. …Though I have a bit of everything! Want some pictures? See my flickr! I also do art and such.

Roots start to grow in 1 month but you need for 1 year to secure.
Yes it is less prone to rot without the taproot but the speed of plant growing is less than that of with taproot.
