Looking Good in 2016

Post by fanaticactus »

I have really neglected putting up the photos from my northern Vermont cactus gardens which are no longer 'experimental'. I did one post in early May, showing a Pediocactus simpsonii and an Echinocer. viridiflorus. After a relatively cool late May/early June, we've had a lot of very warm, dry weather which caused by garden to put forth a lot of growth and--finally--a nice show of flowers. I started with the old standbys of O. humifusa, macrorhiza, polyacantha; several clones of E. reichenbachii baileyi; and some O. fragilis. This year I added O. fragilis denudata and erinacea; more varieties of O. polyacantha; an Escobar. missouriensis; an Echinocer. triglochidiatus, a fendleri v kunzleri and reichenbachii albispinus. I'm very busy outside of the CactiForum and don't have as much time to devote to it as I'd like. So, I'm just going to post some photos that show most of my garden--without individual labeling--how well it has filled in and the multitude of nice blooms Nature has provided this Spring and Summer.

Your opuntia and flowering really well.
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
I dont mind.
I DONT MIND

Thanks. I think a combination of how long the garden has been established (about 6 or 7 years), its southern exposure with protection against cold north and west winds, and the delayed--but finally great--weather we've had are contributing factors.

What a view! Move outside for the summer. :D
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.
