Believe it or not it's possible to cultivate hardy cacti outdoor in Germany. With some rules and rain protection during the winter it's usually easy to do.
Enjoy it.

Outstanding!

Maybe someday I'll try to protect mine from winter precipitation but I'm a purist I guess, only the toughest survive.

You and I have a lot in common. I grow hardy cactus in Reno, NV USA. What grows here grows in Germany, I think. I used to grow mostly Opuntia but found that many other cacti will tolerate harsh conditions. I only have a tiny number of Opuntia now. You have some nice plants.

indeed, they all look very good! what do you do to shelter them if needed? and where in germany do you live? I would guess conditions could be quite the same as here.

Beautiful Garden! I'm Jealous!

Andy_Ct. You can have a garden just as nice and without protection in winters. I lived in Orange County, NY many years ago and had a great cold hardy garden. As long as there is good drainage (raised beds help), your plants should be fine! There's Plenty of cold hardy cactus gardeners in Connecticut.
If you want a good Cold Hardy Cactus Mailing list/Group, I can send you a link... Some really great people with Lots of Super Advice! They're the ones that helped me when I first discovered there were more cold hardy plants than just O. humifusa.
