Growing in the Sierra Nevada "Rain Shadow "

First hardy cactus to bloom this season. Pediocactus simpsonii. I have three growing, this is the only one in bud.

I guess something is better than nothing. :)
It will take a while before the rest of my cati catch up. :?

Sweet, a great looking plant and flower to start the season :)

At least you have a flower. Mine are still wiping the sleep from the eyes :lol:

Most of mine are in the same state of semi consciousness. We keep getting teased by the weather. One or two days in the upper sixties then back down in the forties. Still getting frost six out of seven days. :?

Yeah, weather here is about the same but we're seeing night temps at or below freezing at times :roll:

I do have some G. pulchellas showing new growth though :D

It's at least a start to the season. I hope it will open multiple flowers in the next day or two. I will post them, as I do not have any others vying for my attention just yet. 8)
In the mean time,I will just satisfy my need for color, with non-cacti subjects. :wink:

I do like that combination of the soft pink and the bright yellow center of the blossom. That is a nice plant you've got there! :D

Gymnocalycium sp? I tried three species this last winter. The other two met their maker. :( This one survived! :D

pretty cool that you got a gymno to survive the winter there, nice flower too. Don't think I'll be trying that anytime soon :wink:
