How to post a LARGE image

To post a LARGE image:
To make an image part of your post follow these steps:

1. Your picture can be any size as the forum will automatically re-size it to fit the forum and make a link to the full-sized image. (Note: lareger files take longer to load, so don't put too many large images in a post.)

2. Save your image to a website that you have access to or a free picture hosting site such as photobucket.com

3. Copy the link or URL of the image and paste the URL in the post you are writing.

NOTE: You must copy the URL that goes to the image and not to a web page. images end in .jpg, .gif, .bmp, etc. If your URL ends in .htm, .asp, or other letters, then it is a web page and not an image.

4. Then highlight the URL of the image and click the [Img] button above.

Another NOTE: The site you choose to host your images on, must allow this sort of linking. (It is often called "hot-linking") Yahoo, for example blocks this sort of link.

Still another NOTE: Be sure that you do not have the "Disable BBCode in this post" option checked. The BBCode is what enables the picture to display. This feature will display links and code as plain text.

That's it. If you want to link to the image or a web page, do the same thing, but click on the [URL] button.

How do you make a photo part of the body of the post, as opposed to inserting a url that takes you to the stored image on a photo storage website? I see that people are making photos part of their posts. How do you do that? Copy and paste does not seem to work.

I've re-written the post above. Hopefully this makes more sense. I wrote that one a while ago and after re-reading I could tell it was inadequate.

Let me know how it goes,

Daiv

Tobin,

Your image would have worked except for one thing.
Yahoo doesn't allow linking to pictures on there site.

Create an album on Photobucket.com as suggested and it will work. It's free so give it a shot.

Hi Tobin,

That really is a breath taking plant and a nice photograph too. If I lived in the US I would certainly be taking you up on your offer of seeds.

Good call, Bill! I've modified the original post again to add this important tip.

Hi guys :-)

I tried the photobucket thing but they seem to shrink down my pics. My entry for the "Cacti in flower" contest should be twice as big and a lot clearer. Any way around this without subscribing for their premium service?

Do try to keep the pictures to the contest size limit of 600 x 600 pixels or less.

Hi Polly,

I do believe you have it figured out.
Very nice looking flower.

Yes, Bill, I'm glad it worked at once.

You know the computer and I aren't really friends. And when there is something new I'm always afraid I can not do it.

The flower is the first white Echinopsis I've had. She is lovely indeed and spent a fragrance which gives you a headache!

Greetings,

Polly
