It's Epi-time!
For the next couple of weeks my orchid cactus puts on its best show. The plant has been a part of my family since our elderly neighbor gave my mother a piece in the 1960s. She said the plant had been her grandmother's pride and joy at the turn of the century!

The above photo is from 2015 when my plant had an astounding 166 flowers! Unfortunately, I had to transplant it that year and it hasn't come back to that glory (yet!). It has about 20 flowers on it now and several more buds (though I lost a few in the rain the other night). My "smaller" one in a 10 inch pot has 5 flowers at the moment. This is the first year it has bloomed at all but it is growing wonderfully. And, of course, any piece that breaks off gets potted up. Gotta keep this plant going for another 100 years!
