Shade Cloth

Post by spolott »

Hi Everyone
Just starting to put my cactus outside for the summer. The weather has finally started to get nice on Long Island. Last year they got sunburned
so this year I purchased shade cloth. I got the 40%-50% protection. It's suppose to be sunny and warm for at least the next week. How long do I
leave the cloth on for?
Thanks

John

I thought someone would have answered by now... I think you should experience, see everyday how the plants are reacting, slowly expose them a bit more.

I leave my shade cloth on year round in CA , 50% woven cloth. And a few get half day full sunlight like echinocereus and ferocatcus.

In the fall when the sunlight goes low it can burn the sides of the cactus.

There is no precise answer. Bruno has the right idea.
