My cacti wont grow.
Re: My cacti wont grow.
One more thing: summer temperatures. At room conditions these will not likely to go often even above 25 C and many cacti will not like it. Cacti are tropical and subtropical plants and want/like summer maximums above 30 or 35 degrees like in greenhouses. This might be also a reason for suppressed growth of your cacti. Direct sun exposure (not behind blinds) could solve the problem in some degree.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

Re: My cacti wont grow.
Not all cacti like heat - there are some that grow high in the mountains, or at cooler latitudes - but the ones you have do like it warm. The South-facing window helps that, too, though - the sun hitting the pots will warm them up. They may have enough light there, but watch them closely to see how they do. The first one (a Pilosocereus, I think) especially needs a lot of sun to keep its blue appearance. If the new growth is green instead of blue it's not getting enough sun, you may need to move it outdoors in the summer to keep it looking its best.
Don't worry about your extra posts, that kind of thing happens to all of us at some point - and, you're welcome.

Re: My cacti wont grow.
Thought it might be, but the photo isn't real sharp. That's the name nurseries often use for them, it's listed here as Pilosocereus pachycladus.
They do branch from the base with age, but I think that's actually 5 separate plants - you might want to split them up.

I think its just one plant, cause there is also a small baby.
I wil look pachycladus up.

Re: My cacti wont grow.
I took a good look at p.pachycladus and it looks a lot hairier than my plant.
Its a bit hard to see on my fuzzy picture.

I think u r right greenknight
It is probably more diferent plants put together.
In the wild the branches look diferent.
I feel a bit sad,
Couse it feels like i bought a fake plant.
"Thats wat u get if u buy at garden centers".
Tuff luck i guess.

Re: My cacti wont grow.
Nurseries often put multiple seedlings in a pot like that, makes a nice display quickly. Not a bad deal, really, you got 5 plants for the price of one. The other one may be the same way. (Parodia, maybe?)
Yes, with age and plenty of sun P. pachycladus will develop variable amounts of hair. The part that's most hairy is the pseudocephalium, the area where flowers are produced. Here's a video from a grower in Ireland that shows that - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqbCfjhqB3I
They need to be pretty old before that happens. Hers hadn't bloomed before in 15 years, and it may have bloomed earlier than it would have because it got root rot and had to be cut off and re-rooted (even experienced growers can have mishaps like that). I've seen other examples of that, the near-death experience stimulates the plant to try and reproduce.
