I think Maihuenia poeppigii is really interesting, but I'm having trouble finding it. Even Ebay has only one listing at the moment, and the seller is overseas; I'd really rather stick with a US source, to avoid any issues with CITES. Does anyone have any suggestions? (Plants preferred, but I could give seeds a shot too I suppose!)
I guess for now I'll set an alert on Ebay in case anyone lists something in the US.
Source for Maihuenia poeppigii?

Seeds are slow. Cuttings are easy. I'm not in the US though.

Yeah, I wish it were easier to trade internationally! I guess I'll just keep an eye out.

I've found the seed quick, and fun as they are fast growing for cacti.
Sand the seed costs (very, very fiddly), and the seeds either germinate within a few days or rot. >25% germination in 10 days or so like this.

Occasionally you may find them at dealers that sell alpines as they are also considered an alpine as well as a cactus.

Ben Kamm @ Sacred Succulents (http://www.sacredsucculents.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) usually has at least seeds listed; right now he has both seeds and plants (though he does indicate the plant supply is limited).
Great vendor with a lot of plants with collection data. Tell him Tristan sent you!

Thank you, I didn't know about them! (And I'll mention you in my order. )
