Lots of people describe Strombocactus disciformis as self-fertile, but it never gives me any seed. The row at the back are all normal white-flowered plants that flowered and that was it.
The row at the front are ssp esperanzae, nice pink flowers for the first time this year, followed by lots of seed with no help from me. Bees might have got in, but they must be very colour-conscious if they only went to the pink flowers.
