Blue Candle/Torch Cactus Mildly Damaged By a Klutz

Post by StarDragon »

I lost some newly growing spines at the top of one of my Blue Candle/Torch cacti due to a careless klutz, & I'm trying to keep in mind that the cactus will eventually grow out of it, despite retaining the broken & missing spines. I was wondering roughly what the growth speed of this species is? I want to say I noticed the significant new growth of the cactus & its new spines only a few days ago & I have had these two cacti for several months.

I also have to remind myself of the plant eventually growing out of damage for cactus & succulents that had their farina get disturbed. ](*,)

They grow quite fast. What that means depends a lot on how big your plant already is, if it's in a pot or the ground etc. Certainly measured in inches per year rather than fraction of an inch, probably many inches for a mature plant in the ground.

I would bet that in a month you won't be able to tell it ever happened.
