Melocactus salvadorensis

Post by jp29 »

Grown from seed and beginning to set cephaliums,

Image

Growing in my current soilless medium consising of 60% Bach's Cactus Nursery mix plus 40% raw pumice (+/- ¼"/6.35mm).

Dan Bach's Cactus Nursery mix:

60% screened coarse and uniform (3/8"/9.53mm) horticultural pumice

20% high quality Canadian sphagnum peat moss

20% well composted shredded pine tree forest bark

Amendments (variable, based on producing growing medium that tests to pH 7.0):
Ground-up (pelletized) dolomitic limestone rock
Granular triple super-phosphate
Granular horticultural potassium
Osmocote encapsulated slow release fertilizer

(and in 6" round plastic pots)

Thanks Will -- I can't remember, but I forget so many things like dates and passage of time these days. Something like four years I think.
