Lithops & Windowsills

Post by jmoney »

I am going to a cacti/succulent nursery on Friday and I may look into getting Lithops for my desk at work. Do Lithops fare well on a windowsill? Has anyone grown Lithops successfully on just a windowsill? Obviously at work I wouldn't be able to bring in extra grow lights and the like so if it is a no that option is out.

What are good plants for windowsill growing? Sorry if this is covered in another post.

Looks like I will have to watch my windowsill over the next couple days and see how much sun it gets! How much sun do you think it needs? several hours?

Hi,do you know which way the window is facing? Does it have any shade at the window or just glass?

The window has no shade, it is just glass. The window faces North. The verdict?

North is very very very low light, no lithops, ludisia's would be nice they have pretty leaves and are happy with shade. Maybe a miniature phalaenopsis orchid

You know what works great in a north facing window? Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum). Can't make them flower? Give them less light. Sorry about the inability to do succulents.

Hi,North facing is very low light I am afraid so they wouldn't grow very well at all unfortunately.

Yup. Seems like general consensus is that succulents at my desk at work are out of the question... sadface
