Creepy flowers
Creepy flowers
Tephrocatus stamens move when you tickle them. This is the strongest response I've seen in cactus flowers. It is quite odd watching them move for several seconds after being disturbed.
Tich them and five seconds later this is the result:

Re: Creepy flowers
Sensitive stamens moving to coat pollinating insects is a characteristic of most if not all Opuntioides. Opuntia and Pterocactus stamens do the same thing if you touch them.
Re: Creepy flowers
That's nifty.
Re: Creepy flowers
Almost bites! But the flower is large - lake an umbrella for that pot.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

Re: Creepy flowers
I notice they do that on my lophophora when cross pollinating. Too it might help reduce self pollination.
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
