Copiapoa flowers

Post by iann »

Despite the cloudy cold May, Copiapoas have been flowering. I counted nine buds on this C. hypogaea but it is rationing them out slowly

Here it seems the rainy season is finally arriving, little rains on the weekend and here it was a cloudy day today too.
Two copiapoas seemed to like it and were in flower too. I never had any Copiapoa seeds so I tried cross-polinating them, but different species, I'm not really expecting any fruits but who knows.
A friend of mine wrote that one of his copiapoas had a self polinated fruit.
Did this ever happen to any of yours?
