Things are stirring

Post by iann »

All sorts of things are making up, but these surprised me today. February hasn't been great, very dull, but the sun is supposed to come out next week and the party will really begin.

I could add these too, but that would be cheating a bit since they are inside. I couldn't risk my M. perezdelarosae ssp andersoniana seedlings freezing, not that that there has been a lot of freezing this winter.

I've always fancied a M Perez, yours look superb, so much more attractive than bombycina, I must do something about this.

I noticed a small bud on my Turbinicarpus pseudopectinatus. It has been hidden in a dark cold room since late November, and basically will not get any direct sunlight or decent indirect sunlight until I haul all my plants back into the greenhouse again. In about two weeks, depending on the weather. But amazes me this plant 'knows' it is time to do its annual thing again.

They are very pretty. The seedlings are ssp andersoniana, slower and smaller, with only straight spines, but still difficult to find. Ssp perezdelaroae is bigger and has hooked spines, but still very attractive:

Buried like in habitat - i like this approach!
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

I bought Mammillaria perezdelarosae ssp. andersoniana seed from Kakteen Haage this year. As I recall when I set seed previously it flowered from seed in a couple of years or so, but I lost them in a previous bad winter. Should have brought them indoors as you did Ian.
