Have you ever wondered where the original seed grown plants that all these asexually propagated cactus cultivars, like the Penis cactus, are today, and if they are even still alive? just an interesting thought.

Some of these cultivars may have been monstrose from seed, but he original plant in the case you quote may even have been normal? The cultivar may simply have been a mostrose stem that was removed and further propagated, just as with many cristates.
